We are less than two months away from Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverthe expected sequel to Black PantherBy hitting cinemas, that means we’re getting more and more new looks about the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe. The latest is a whole new look at Shuri (Letitia Wright). Empire Magazine They shared a brand new photo of Shuri from the upcoming movie as part of their coverage of the movie for their new issue. The new photo shows that Shurey was dressed a little differently than we’ve seen in other photos from the movie, and she’s wearing something that looks a little more formal. Seeing a picture of Shuri dressed a little differently than perhaps some of the other pictures we’ve seen so far from the movie only serves to confirm that the character has been on a journey since we last saw her in Black Panther, as did Wright herself. Not only did Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death affect the film’s cast and crew personally, but he also saw that the film had to take on a storyline with T’Challa/Black Panther as well, and for Wright, her character’s journey gave her a chance to grieve and heal–heal.
Wright said, “Shoree’s journey has allowed me to grieve, to cry, to laugh, and to gain strength that I never thought I would, empire. “Trials and tribulations make you the way you are. Either you bend or you get up and come back again. I feel like Shurey kept looking at me every day, asking if I was going back or coming back again. And I kept moving forward until healing started to happen to me.”
Of course, in terms of Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverthe healing includes the transfer of the mantle of the Black Panther to another person, and while who will ascend in the film remains a mystery, it’s a role that Shurey took in the comics — something Wright says she spoke about with director Ryan Coogler and Boseman returned while making the first movie.
“I talked about it with Ryan and Chad when we were talking Black PantherAnd we touched upon it briefly, Wright said. “When I realized I was playing Shuri, it was something I was really looking forward to.”
